Bio

Aloha Crusaders’ founders, Christopher and Amanda Bates moved to The Big Island from Columbus, Ohio.  After marrying in 2009 they created, owned and operated a small boutique home renovation business, Bates Home Beautification. They gained a reputation for always creating a beautiful environment, assuring client delight whether in a luxury space or a modest apartment. Both are home experts and approach each project with a strategic eye and a multidisciplinary skill set ranging from basic cleaning and organizing to painting, custom carpentry, flooring and more. Passionate about Hawaiian values and getting back to nature, the move to Hawai’i was a natural fit.  With encouragement from friends and neighbors, Amanda and Chris started Aloha Crusaders Inc in 2017.   

Amanda, born and raised in a small town in west Ohio, developed a love of stewardship through years of cultivating, gardening, and fishing with her family. Raised on the values of hard work and integrity, her passion for customer service came through years of entrepreneurship in hospitality and restaurant work. In her free time, she enjoys cooking in her outside kitchen, studying Hawaiian history and culture, gardening, and bonfires with her boys. She is active in her community, supporting women’s health, racial justice, environmentalism, and sustainability .  Grateful for an amazing group of long time clients, friends and family, Amanda looks forward to spreading the magic of aloha with her future 'Ohana.

Chris, born in Tokyo, spent his childhood on the beaches of Oahu surfing and exploring with his mother. During this time he developed a passion for the land and deep appreciation for the Hawaiian culture. His wish is to combine his knowledge and experience in home renovation and deliver the best spacial aesthetic to all clients and their audiences.  His favorite activities during his leisure time include spending time with his wife and two boys, body surfing and watching The Ohio State Buckeyes.
